This Satisfying Hack Will Remove the Husk (AND SILKS!) From Your Corn

Corn on the cob is a classic part of the summer grilling menu. Grilled vegetables, in general, always impart a great side to any grilled protein dish. To me, nothing is better than a fire kissed and roasted corn on the cob. Not only is it in season during the sweltering months of summer, but it is DELICIOUS with fan-favorite barbecue dishes.

Shucking corn, however, and picking out the silk can be time consuming. Especially when you have a crowd over for a backyard rager!

LUCKILY, there is a hack for that! Most food hacks and trends you see on the internet are really dumb and don't save you much time. THIS ONE however, is one that I KNOW works...because I tried it for you!

In a TikTok video, user @meadweaver discovered (or shared) a food hack that went viral! This user microwaved an ear of corn (in the husk) for four minutes. Once finished, the sliced off the bottom end and squeezed the corn out.

But how does this method work?

Well, the science behind this is not really that difficult. According to Food Network, when you microwave the corn it creates steam which helps separate it from the husk and silks. However, Food Network recommends that you microwave it for three minutes (not four). That suggestion is certainly worth a try if you want to save some time.

Incase you are wondering, YES you CAN microwave multiple ears of corn at once. The max capacity would depend on the size of your microwave, but I am able to fit four ears in mine!

Give it a try and let me know the results!
